When I contacted CSL I was employed in project management in a Phase I CRO and had no monitoring experience at all and only experience with Phase I studies.
All other agencies had either given me little or no hope of ever getting a CRA job without first having to become a trainee CRA and taking a substantial drop in pay.
When I spoke to CSL they were very upfront about my chances of getting a CRA position and told me that I would probably have to wait quite a while until the right position for me would come around, partly due to my requirements being quite tight and partly because I had no monitoring experience.
Despite this, very quickly a position came up that met my requirements and the company was keen to see me. After only a week from the Interview I had a contract CRA position in clinical pharmacology, and this contract was extended twice.
When this contract came to an end, I found myself in more or less the same position as before, since it was a clinical pharmacology CRA position I had occupied, so I still did not have any later phase experience. Again CSL was very upfront and convinced me to try and broaden my requirements a bit.
After a few months where other agencies had send me for various positions – most of them unsuitable for me – I had a call from CSL with a position which they thought was perfect for me even though it was based a bit further away than I had said, I was prepared to travel. They were right! I went for the interview and got the job!
I am now a permanent Phase I to IV CRA in a wonderful company, and have no plans to change my job. I have even been allowed to work odd hours to enable me to miss out the rush hours.
All in all CSL does not send you for pointless interviews; they go for quality rather than quantity. CSL only ever send me for two interviews – and I got both positions!
A great thank you to all at CSL for helping me find the perfect job.
