Clinical research company Eisai has introduced its Magnolia Meals At Home initiative, which aims to provide free, nutritious meals for those who are living with breast cancer.
The scheme is piloted in and around Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey and Andover, Massachusetts. It is a partnership between the Eisai Women's Oncology Program Magnolia, CANCERcare, the Cancer Support Community and the Meals on Wheels Association of America.
Helen Miller, chief executive of CANCERcare, said: "Magnolia Meals at Home aims to lessen the burden on families during this difficult time, allowing them to maintain normalcy for their children, spouses or aging parents, and more easily manage the activities of daily life while undergoing treatment."
Ms Miller added that patients who are suffering from breast cancer often find that their daily routines are substantially impacted.
Recently, Arena Pharmaceuticals finalised the transfer of the BELVIQ new drug application to Eisai.
The move means that Eisai is now the marketing authorisation holder for regulatory activities in the US with regard to the commercialisation of the solution.
